This year’s budget agreement between Gov. Andrew Cuomo and state lawmakers included a change to the STAR program for certain new homeowners. The change will ONLY apply to homeowners that purchased a home in New York on or after March 1, 2015. These new homeowners will now receive a STAR rebate check in September rather than a STAR credit against their school tax bill. On or about May 1, property owners subject to this new program will receive a letter from their local assessor outlining this new process and how to apply to receive their rebate check.
WASHINGTON (December 1, 2015) – The conference agreement for a multi-year surface transportation authorization was released in Congress this week, with both the U.S. House and Senate set to vote on the measure in the days ahead.
The bill funds several highway and transit-related projects, with monies coming from a variety of sources.
The New York State Association of REALTORS® announced the winner of their REALTOR of the Year award for 2015. It was required that each nominee be actively involved at the Local, State, and National levels which could include serving on committees, work groups, presidential advisory groups, elected offices or holding a position on a Board of Directors. Additional activites were also factored in when the Nominating Committee selected this year's recipient such as participation with Institutes, Societies and Councils, and civic and charitable causes.

Today the Greater Syracuse Association of REALTORS® (GSAR) held its annual event, called “Community Day”, where speakers shared their insights with GSAR’s REALTOR® members on pertinent real estate issues at the local level. This year’s two main speakers were U.S. Congress Representative John Katko (NY-24) and Dr. Neil Murphy from Consensus CNY, Commission on Local Government Modernization.
