The election will be held at the GSAR office, beginning on October 20th. See below....

 

 

Election Information

 

There are 5 open positions for GSAR Director positions for 2012.

 

The election will take place at the GSAR office, for two weeks. Voting starts October 20th, and ends November 2nd. Simply stop in to the GSAR office, between 9am and 4pm to cast your vote. You will need to sign the master list at the front desk.

 

The election results will be announced at the Member Social on November 3rd. The Social is "Gourmet Soups" - from 12-1:30pm. Click here to register for the Social.

The results will also be posted on the MLXchange Message of the Day screen, as well as on cnyREALTOR.com.

 

Don't forget to sign up for the Member Social on Oct. 6th to meet the candidates!

 

 

Tri-Association Oktoberfest Event - NEW!

 

The Greater Syracuse Association of REALTORS, Home Builders and Remodelers of CNY, and CNY Mortgage Bankers are excited to be hosting an Oktoberfest celebration!

Electronic Signatures

 

As NYSAR legal has pointed out, electronic signatures are not currenlty valid on real estate documents. You can see an explanation from Anthony Gatto, NYSAR Legal Counsel, here.

 

The good news is, the Governor recently signed a bill that will allow rules & regulations to be created to allow electronic signatures in the future.

 

According to Anthony Gatto, there is no educational component to it yet since rules and regulations have not been drafted and must be promulgated by the State Director of Technology.  It will go into effect on September 23, 2012.

Changing Status in MLS

 

A poem and a comment from a fellow member - good thoughts!

 

"Ode to MLS Status"

 

I've heard other agents that scream and rant....

"To change the status....why no, we can't.."

 

"Oh yes," they'll say, "It's sold you see..."

 

"Oh no say I, this could not be....."

"For if it were there'd be a C....."

 

 

"I have found the new Contingency with home sale status to be an effective way of communicating that a contract is written but the house is still available to show.

 

To illustrate my point I'll use the listing I have on 5813 Bennett's Corners Rd.  During the 70 day period that it was under C - Home Sale I had 6 bona-fide showings occur.  I also used the private remarks box to instruct agents to show at will.  (The property was vacant at the time) 

 

I know there are many agents out there that either don't know the rules or, worse, know them well and simply refuse to follow them.  There is a myth out there that once a property goes to C it doesn't get shown.   I would encourage agents to use the C- Home Sale status correctly as it demostrates to the consumer that as Realtors we follow our own rules."

Small Bottles...BIG Help - WIN FREE CE!

Help GSAR do something big for the community by collecting something little!

 

We know that our members travel a lot during the summer months, so you have access to sample sizes of toiletries that get discarded if you don't need them. These sample items can go a long way toward helping local charities!

Now through October, we will be collecting as many small toiletries as possible, and donating them to Vera House, and the Dorothy Day House. Both of these are local charities that can really use these types of donations! They must be unused bottles/bars of soap, shampoo, lotion, shower gel, toothpaste, etc.

The member that collects the most bottles and brings them in will receive 22.5 hours of FREE CE for 2012! This is a $270 value!
