National Flood Insurance Program
  

Last week during NAR's 2012 Mid-Year Meetings many of you met with Members of Congress and urged action on NAR's priority issues, including the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Later today the United States Senate is expected to pass a 60-day extension of the NFIP. This extension will avoid a lapse in the program when the current authorization expires on May 31, 2012.  A lapse would have affected thousands of real estate closings across the nation.  While this extension is a positive development and will ensure program continuity it is not the long-term solution that NAR has been advocating.  

 

NAR has been firmly committed to working with our Congressional Allies on passing a 5-year National Flood Insurance Program reauthorization and reform bill.  That bill, H.R.1309 the Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2011, has passed the House of Representatives and awaiting action in the United States Senate.  Despite media reports that are indicating "progress" in the Senate on passing the reauthorization and reform bill, there a number of legislative hurdles that remain.  So we are holding off

Ethics Class with Seats Available June 6th!

 

The current NAR ethics cycle began on January 1, 2009 and ends on December 31, 2012.  All NAR members are required to complete a minimum of 2.5 hours of REALTOR® Code of Ethics training during each four year cycle.  If you have not yet completed your ethics training, consider attending one (or more) GSAR classes that fulfill this requirement:

Grievance, Arbitration & Procuring Cause- October 30

 

Mandatory Ethics & Local Association Training- June 6, August 2, October 10, November 27.

 

If you completed your ethics training through a school other than GSAR, please submit the course completion certificate to us: fax to 457-5884 or email to education@cnyrealtor.com.

MLS Rules & Regulations - Quick reminders! 
 

 

We have been running weekly reminders in this HotNews of Code of Ethics Articles. Now, we are switching it up to MLS Rules & Regulations reminders...keep them at top of mind!

 

Section 1.2  Detail on Listings Filed with the Service - A listing agreement or property data form, when filed with the multiple listing service by the listing broker, shall be complete in every detail which is ascertainable as specified on the property data form.

 

1. Required Information: You must input all 'Required' information requested on the property data form within 5 business days. It is the responsibility of the Designated REALTOR® to ensure accuracy at all times.

Broker Qualifying Course

 

The 45 Hour Broker Qualifying Course begins October 9th.  If you took the 45 hour salesperson course, you will have to complete a 30 hour remedial course in addition to the 45 hour broker course in order to apply for the broker license.  Contact Sue for details on broker licensing requirements: education@cnyrealtor.com or 457-5979 x 24.
