Thank you to our GSAR members and leadership that attended Lobby Day in Albany this past Tuesday! See below message from Mike Kelly, NYSAR Government Affairs Director:

Good afternoon,

I'm pleased to report that the efforts of NYSAR members during Lobby Day this past Tuesday have paid dividends already.

Today, the State Assembly unanimously approved a NYSAR supported bill that will streamline the process by which real estate salespersons and associate brokers move from one brokerage to another.

The bill also corrected an antiquated error in current law that reflects a license term expiring on October 31st rather than the accurate duration of license terms of two years.

As the bill was previously approved by the State Senate, the legislation will next be sent to Governor Cuomo for his consideration.

As this legislative session winds down in the next week NYSAR will remain on alert monitoring legislation that we oppose including:

- mandatory well tests

- requirements on licensees related to distribution of well water quality

- proposed increases in the statewide mortgage recording tax
